Project context
The setting
A multi-brand organisation operated approximately 150 WordPress websites across different hosting environments, software versions, and infrastructure configurations.
Challenge
The problem to solve
The estate combined varied plugin and theme versions, complex DNS arrangements, automated threats, resource constraints, and hosting-specific limitations.
My role and scope
What I was responsible for
I supported day-to-day WordPress administration and technical troubleshooting across the portfolio, including security reviews, software management, hosting, DNS, SSL, and Cloudflare work.
Investigation and reasoning
- Reviewed site-level errors, threats, plugin and theme states, and hosting constraints
- Traced DNS, SSL, cache, and server-resource problems across different providers
- Prioritised incidents against routine maintenance work
Approach and implementation
- Managed WordPress core, plugin, and theme maintenance
- Investigated malware and suspicious activity
- Troubleshot hosting, DNS, SSL, Cloudflare, and server behaviour
- Maintained a repeatable process across a varied portfolio
Technical Scope
Technical Scope & Verification
Factual records of infrastructure troubleshooting, security hardening, and operational scope completed.
The documented scope covers ongoing support for approximately 150 WordPress websites. The portfolio does not contain a verified uptime percentage or a complete incident count, so neither is claimed here.
- Portfolio size
- ~150 sites
- Hosting
- Multiple environments
- Engagement
- Ongoing support
Evidence note
Internal portfolio inventory recorded in the existing project data. Engagement dates and a publishable client reference still need confirmation.
Constraints and lessons
What this work made clear
- Large estates need consistent triage and documentation rather than one-off fixes
- Hosting and DNS differences make a single maintenance recipe unreliable
